About
Everyday Abilities Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Berkeley, California. Our mission is counseling and assistive technology for people with disabilities, so daily life is a little more workable.
Counseling is sliding-scale; no one is turned away for inability to pay. Counseling fees go to Everyday Abilities Foundation and support its programs.
Everyday Abilities Foundation is a Berkeley, California 501(c)(3) with three programs: rehabilitation counseling, an Equipment Library for in-person device demos, and a Tech Guide with notes and manufacturer links.
We do not sell products. Counseling is one-on-one, in person in the Bay Area, and beyond by phone or video call. The Tech Guide is information you can browse anytime. The Equipment Library is the smaller set of devices we keep on hand for in-person demos.
People with disabilities (and often family or caregivers) come with questions about work, school, health, relationships, getting around, and daily living.
Since 2014, Everyday Abilities has worked with people with disabilities in Berkeley and beyond. The work is small and personal by design: one person, one goal, one next step at a time.
Walter meets one-on-one with people with disabilities, and often their family or caregivers, in person in the Bay Area, and beyond by phone or video call. Conversations cover work, school, health, relationships, and everyday tasks, and they often turn to whether a device, a demo at the library, or a community resource could help. Counseling is sliding-scale; no one is turned away for inability to pay.
We keep adaptive equipment that people can see in person, including a TerrainHopper recreational all-terrain vehicle and a BerkelBike. Some items need repair before they can be demonstrated, and donations help cover that work.
Our Tech Guide explains devices in plain language, with questions to ask a clinician and ways to pay. Our Resources page points to rights, employment, and funding help we trust.

Walter speaks English, Spanish, and German.

When assistive technology comes up, we look at options and try-outs. We do not push a product.
Leave with something workable to try, not a stack of vague advice.
