Our take
Beach sand and forest trails are not exactly friendly to everyday chairs, which is why the TerrainHopper is such a fun one to talk about. It is a recreational all-terrain mobility vehicle with four-wheel drive, suspension for stability and seating that can be adapted to the rider. The manufacturer cites a range of up to 18 miles and speeds up to 6 mph, along with roll bars and seat belts. Ask yourself whether you can transfer into it safely, and what controls will work for your hands. We keep one in our Equipment Library for in-person demos only.
Who it may help: People who want to get back on trails, beaches or rough ground with family and friends.
This is our own summary based on the manufacturer’s information and our Tech Guide notes. We are not a seller, we have not been paid to write it, and it is not medical advice. Talk with your clinician before you choose equipment.
